Introduction:
Galileo Galilei was astronemer, scientist, and philosopher from Italy. He lived during the 1600s. He did expirements and had theories that many people didn't like. He was a smart person who knew more than the average Italian man. He disagreed and disproved many of Aristotle's ideas. Galileo had some luck in his life including living during The Renaissance. One of his most famous expirements was in the Tower of Pisa. From the tower he dropped to different size and weight cannonballs. They hit the ground disproving Aristotle's theory that to different wieght object would hit the ground at different times. He also made many dicoveries in the astronomy world. His most famous theory was that he said we went around the Sun. He wrote a book called Two Chief Systems of the World in which he wrote many of his ideas, including the one of that the sun was the center of the universe, not Earth. It was difficult for Galileo because everytime he made a dicovery and told people they didn't believe him beacuse it disproved Aritotle. He made a clock by learning about the pendula. After teching in Pisa and getting fired, he went to teach in Padua. In Padua he had 3 kids with Marina Gamba. In 1611, he published a book called The Starry Messenger, in which he wrote about the moons of Jupiter. He made a telescope to find the moons, and to also study our moon. In 1624 he was called to Rome. Pope Urban VIII told Galileo to write a book in which he said that Copernicus's ideas were wrong. Galileo wrote the book, but at the end he couldn't disagree with Copernicus because Galileo knew he was right. After the book was written he was charged with heresy. Galileo was put in house arrest for the rest of his life. He still continued drawing, observing, and writing what he saw with his telescope. Between 1634 and 1637 he wrote a book called, Two New Sciences in which he explained motion and the study of property of materials using math. On 1637 he got an eye infection and lost his sight. His last day was January 8, 1642.
